After a brief period of moody weather, a nice weekend was once again approaching. We immediately made a plan to spend it outdoors, specifically in the Karst region.
On Saturday morning, we drove towards Štanjel. The sun peeked out somewhere between Logatec and Postojna. On the road, the usual situation—everyone on the left, resulting in congestion, but overall not much traffic. In Štanjel, we had coffee at the Zoro bar, picked up the Gnome’s notebooks, and set off on the Fairytale Experience Trail of the Gnome Kras. It’s great for kids—gnomes, searching for symbols, collecting stamps, walking in nature… In the end, there was a reward at Štanjel Castle.
From Štanjel, we headed towards the village of Sela na Krasu, to a beautiful PZA: https://www.visitkras.info/postajalisce-za-avtodome-kamp-sela-na-krasu. Peace, a view of the sea, and beautiful nature.
After settling in, we went for a walk through the village. We always enjoy exploring the surroundings. We stopped at the excursion farm and ‘osmica’ (8) at Pri Krčarju: https://prikrcarju-osmica.si/. Even though they were fully booked and reserved, they kindly welcomed us and served us food and drinks. I can’t praise the prosciutto enough; it melted in my mouth. I also can’t praise the Teran wine enough, which literally caressed my tongue. We ate and drank outside; it was a lovely ambiance! I haven’t enjoyed food and drinks like this in a long time. It’s a wonderful experience!
The next day, after breakfast, we headed to Trstelj. We drove a little higher on the road through the village of Temnica and parked at the point where the asphalt ends. We continued on foot to Stjenkova Cottage at Trstelj: Stjenkova Cottage. It’s a great trail for small children; it’s neither too long nor too strenuous. At the cottage, as always, there was a great atmosphere. The cheerful staff, rock ‘n’ roll music, delicious apple strudel, and refreshing drinks.
