Winter is gone, and spring has greeted us with the promise of a beautiful, warm weekend. Spring days are perfect for hiking, so we decided to finally visit Kope, which has long been on our wish list. The journey from Ljubljana to Grmovškov dom under Velika Kopa took a little less than two hours. Grmovškov dom is now a real beauty – more than just a mountain hut, it has become a true hotel, large and pleasant. In front of the house, there is a motorhome stop (PZA), which is ideal for all hiking enthusiasts who want to spend the night outdoors.
On the first day, we went for a hike to Ribniška koča on Pohorje. The path is easy and perfectly suitable for our four-year-old. Unfortunately, Ribniška koča was closed, which was a disappointment for many hikers. The season hadn’t started at Grmovškov dom either, but we were lucky – someone was celebrating a milestone birthday, so the place was open, allowing us to refresh ourselves with a cold drink after a long and hot hike.
We spent the night in our Grand California motorhome, which is always a great choice for our family. The kids absolutely love it, as it offers more than enough space for all of us.
After a well-deserved rest, the next day we went for a hike to Partizanski dom. This path was also perfect for our four-year-old. Unfortunately, Partizanski dom was also closed, which is really incomprehensible, as the weather was beautiful and the hiking trails were full of visitors. Nevertheless, we enjoyed nature and the exercise.
We will definitely return to Kope, as they offer numerous hiking trails and other outdoor activities. We hope to have better luck with open huts and houses next time. Kope is truly a gem for all nature and hiking enthusiasts.
