The story of the chain’s fall and the friend from the forest who came to help him was a true heart-wrenching drama for all the fans. But Primož succeeded – he won the time trial, put on the pink jersey, and claimed the Giro d’Italia.
The penultimate stage of the Giro d’Italia 2023 was truly special, as it nearly touched the Slovenian border. It took place on Monte Lussari, known in Slovenian as Svete Višarje. The weekend before the race, we decided to scout the area to find the best spot for parking and cheering for our champion, Primož Roglič. The trip was very successful; we hiked part of the ascent along the road and found an excellent parking spot in the valley, a little further from the village of Valbruna (Ovčja vas), just before the climb to Monte Lussari.
We set off for the venue on Friday afternoon. We settled in peacefully and enjoyed the beautiful view. The next morning, right after breakfast, we began watching the training sessions. After the training, there was a race, the time trial. The entire day’s events were exceptional, as we had the opportunity to see all the cyclists and cheer for them all day.
Of course, we Slovenians eagerly awaited Primož Roglič’s performance. The story of the chain falling off and a friend from the woods who came to help was a real heart-wrenching drama for all the fans. But Primož succeeded – he won the time trial, put on the pink jersey, and conquered the Giro d’Italia 2023.
Being a part of this event was an incredible experience. The excitement, tension, and ultimate victory united the fans in one voice that echoed throughout Italy and Slovenia.
Bravo Rogla!!!
